This edition of the Planning Bulletin features events over the period January to June 2011. Since the last issue, the Ministry has been busy setting standards in planning for the nation. After the ISO 9001;2008 QMS Certifi cation, the Ministry emerged top in Performance Contracting, and were the proud recipients of the coveted President’s revolving trophy! Find out how all this came about... Over the period under review, the 2011 Economic Survey Report was launched by the Minister, Hon. Wycliffe Ambetsa Oparanya. .
The Report presents an annual economic performance of various sectors in the economy. In this year’s analysis, it was noted that Real GDP expanded by 5.6 per cent in 2010, compared to a growth of 2.6 per cent in 2009. Download...
The bulletin provides details of the main players on the expansion, as well as other contributory factors. Under the auspices of the Ministry of Planning, Kenya hosted the 4th Annual General Meeting of African Community of Practice on Managing for development results (AfCoP-MfDR) in May 2011 followed by a 2 day training on Performance Budgeting organized by the Africa Centre for Learning, Evaluation and Results (CLEAR) of South Africa.
The meeting brought together close to 60 participants drawn from both the Anglophone and Francophone Africa. Read more on the workshop proceedings, and what the Hon. Minister had to say. In line with ‘keeping development on track’, the Ministry, through Monitoring and Evaluation Directorate (MED) launched the second Annual Progress Report (APR) on implementation of the fi rst medium term plan (2008/2012) of the Kenya Vision 2030. The ceremony held in May at City Hall, was offi ciated jointly by the Minister Hon. Wycliffe Ambetsa Oparanya and World Bank Country Director Mr. Johannes Zutt.
