Ministry prepared to accomplish mission

The Ministry of State for Planning, National Development and Vision 2030 is prepared to fulfill its duty for successful implementation of the country's economic blue print.Permanent Secretary Dr. Edward Sambili says the Ministry will continue to rally other ministries to carry out their respective assignments while tracking the results for the benefit of Kenyans.

“We struck an accord with Kenyans and they continue to demonstrate a lot of faith that if the vision is fully implemented the country will register much progress,” he said.

Speaking during the Ministry's Heads of Directorates/ Units at a Nairobi hotel, Dr. Sambili expressed contentment over the performance of his staff especially in the last two years.

“We were one of the first Ministries to attain the International Organization of Standards certificate and we have remarkably done well in implementing it. In this New Year we are going to address ourselves on important issues to ensure that the country attains the achievements in the offing,” he added.

Last year the Ministry was crowned as the best performer beating other Government Ministries and departments in the 2009/2010 performance contract results announced by H.E President Mwai Kibaki and Prime Minister, Rt. Hon. Raila Odinga. The PS at the same time urged directors and heads of units in his Ministry to focus on readjusting their programmes in accordance to the new constitution.

He said the Rural Planning Directorate will soon develop and issue national and county planning guidelines to chart development at both national and county government.

“We also have plans to create 47 County Planning and Coordination offices in line with the constitution,” Dr. Sambili added.

He also encouraged the officers at the Ministry to remain open and transparent by readily availing information to the public.
