Ministry of Planning Mourns

The Ministry of State for Planning, National Development and Vision 2030 is mourning following the demise of three of its employees in a tragic road accident along the Narok-Bomet road.
The deceased Ms. Mary Wairimu Chege (Personal Secretary to Director), Mr. Nickson Kithyoma Mala (Economist II) and Mr. Jason Josiah Mbogo (Driver I) from the Monitoring and Evaluation Directorate were traveling from Nairobi to Migori for official duties on Tuesday, June 12,2012 when they got involved in the fatal accident.
Another member of the team Mr. Bosco Odhiambo Okumu (Economist II), is hospitalized at Tenwek Mission Hospital in stable condition.
According to Police in Bomet, the driver lost control of the vehicle registration number GKA258Z at Kibisarwet near Bomet town as he tried to avoid a huge pothole.The vehicle veered off the road and landed in a ditch at a place that has been described as a black spot.
Hon. Wycliffe Oparanya, the planning minister conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased members of staff. He assured them of the ministry’s support and prayers during this trying time.
“It is with deep sorrow and regret that we inform you of the demise of three members of staff in a tragic road accident on Tuesday, June 12, 2012 along the Narok-Bomet road,” said Permanent Secretary, Dr. Edward Sambili, in a memo addressed to all staff.
He also extended “sincere condolences to the families, relatives and friends of the deceased” and prayed to God to strengthen and comfort them during this trying moment.
Monitoring and Evaluation Director Mr. Samson Machuka mourned his staff saying this was a big blow to his directorate.
Meanwhile Dr. Sambili has dispatched a team led by Senior Director Administration, Mr. John Nandasaba to Bomet to coordinate and execute logistical arrangements.
