Principal Secretary Dr. Bonface Makokha holds Meet and Greet session at the National Council for Population and Development(NCPD)

Economic Planning Principal Secretary Dr. Bonface Makokha continued with his familiarisation tours on 30th April  morning. The sessions dubbed ” Meet and Greet” started at the National Council for Population and Development. On arrival PS Makokha was received by the Director General Dr. Mohammed Sheikh. The NCPD choir was at hand to welcome the PS with song and dance.

Some of the functions of the National Council for Population and Development are; to analyse population issues and develop policies relating to population and to provide leadership and mobilize support for population programmes including coordinating population programmes implemented by different organisations.

The Director General who was accompanied by Senior officials of the Council took the PS through a presentation on the functions, staff establishment, achievements, challenges and upcoming activities.

Additionally, this afternoon Dr. Makokha visited the National Government Constituencies Development Fund Offices where he was received by the Board Chair Hon. John Olago Aluoch, the Chief Executive Officer, Yusuf Mbuno and other Senior officials.

NG-CDF is under the State Department for Economic Planning and is established under the NG-CDF Act 2015 ( as amended in 2023).

The enactment of NG-CDF (as amended in 2023) aligned the operations of the Fund to the Constitution of Kenya 2010, by ensuring that the law governing the fund strongly embraces the Principles of participation of the people, separation of powers and delineation of functions between the National and County Governments.

The Chief Executive Officer Yusuf Mbuno made a presentation highlighting the functions, achievements, staff establishment and challenges facing the Fund.

In his response Dr. Makokha appreciated the work being done by the two Semi Autonomous Government Agencies. He said that the main purpose of the visits was to meet and greet staff as he gets to understand the functions of each institution. He assured them of his support to ensure they deliver on their mandates.

The PS was accompanied by Ag Economic Planning Secretaries; Timothy Gakuu, James Maina, Leah Chirchir, Festus Wangwe who is also an Alternate Director of the Board and Senior Deputy Secretary Hezron Nyamberi.
