The Inaugural International Program For Development Evaluation Training 2025
The Economic Planning Principal Secretary, Dr.Bonface Makokha has today, Monday, 3rd November, 2025 officially launched the Inaugural International Program for Development Evaluation Training (IPDET) 2025 at a Nairobi Hotel.
The IPDET is a globally recognized executive training program hosted by Global Evaluation Initiative (GEI), CLEAR Evaluation Anglophone Africa (CLEAR-AA) and other stakeholders. The workshop aims to provide advanced training in development evaluation.
Additionally, it is designed for professionals working in Monitoring, Evaluation and results measurement, offering them the tools and skills needed to commission, manage and implement evaluations.
This year’s program which brings together global expertise combines global best practices and African approaches for locally relevant training.
It also focuses on monitoring and evaluation (M&E) skills aimed at professionals working in development, evaluation and policy-making.
While officially launching the training, the Economic Planning Principal Secretary, Dr. Bonface Makokha noted that this event marks a significant milestone in the Country’s efforts to enhance monitoring and evaluation systems. He further acknowledged that the program is a first-of-its-kind in Kenya.
Moreover, PS Makokha reiterated that the training reflects on our collective commitment to using credible data, rigorous evaluation and learning as essential tools for sustainable and equitable development.
On closing, the PS encouraged the participants to enjoy the beauty of Nairobi where skyscrapers meet the Savannah by taking time to visit the nearby Nairobi National Park.
This training is designed to equip attendees with the knowledge and skills necessary to leverage data for impactful change, focusing on sustainability and resilience.
Also in attendance were the CLEAR-AA Acting Director, Dr.Taku Chirau and the IPDET Head of Programmes, Dr. Candice Morkel among others.
