Karabondi Bidii Senior School Gets A New Set Of Wheels
Today, Thursday, 22nd January, 2026 celebrations filled Karabondi Bidii Senior School in Karachuonyo Constituency, Homa Bay County, as students, parents, teachers and the local community received their new school bus.
The bus was funded by the National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF), Financial Year 2024/2025 under the Best Practice Demonstration Program.
While presiding over the handover, the Economic Planning Principal Secretary, Dr Bonface Makokha, who was the Chief Guest at the event, praised the NG-CDF for the initiative, saying that the new bus will facilitate smoother logistics for field trips, competitions and school events.
Additionally, PS Makokha stated that the education sector got the lion’s share – 73% of the NG-CDF allocation for the 2025/26 FY. This significant allotment highlights the government’s priority on education development.
Moreover, the PS planted trees during the exercise. He was assisted by the area Member of Parliament (MP), Hon. Andrew Okuome, the NG-CDF Board Chair Hon. Olago Oluoch, the NG-CDF CEO, Yusuf Mbuno among others. This is in line with President William Ruto’s Jaza Miti initiative.
The ambitious program which was launched in 2022 targets to achieve 30% forest cover. It aims to combat deforestation, mitigate climate change and promote sustainable land use in Kenya by planting 15 billion trees by 2032.
Also the NG-CDF Land Cruiser for Rachuonyo North Constituency was flagged off during the ceremony.
Others present were; the Director NG-CDF Board Member, Hon. Masista Shiyonga, Rachuonyo North Deputy County Commissioner, Aaron Koros and Principals from various senior schools among others.
