2025 Economic Survey Launch
The National Treasury and Economic Planning Cabinet Secretary Hon. FCPA John Mbadi has today launched the Economic Survey 2025 Report at the Kenyatta International Convention Center (KICC).
The report is prepared by the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS) in collaboration with other stakeholders. The Bureau provides information for monitoring the Country’s development agenda as well as the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
CS Mbadi said that the report serves as a comprehensive overview of Kenya’s Socio-Economic Performance providing invaluable data and insights for policy makers, researchers, investors, business community and the general public.
“The Country was hit by high interest rates resulting to significant loses caused by extreme weather events and conditions which has taken a toll on our economic growth,” CS Mbadi said. However, the informal and private sectors played a critical role in job creation , he added.
The KNBS Director General, Dr. Macdonald Obudho delivered an in-depth presentation on the key findings from the 2025 Economic Survey Report which highlighted the country’s economic performance and growth in 2024.
“In 2024, tea, milk, sugarcane and coffee production increased, driven by favourable weather, while maize output fell due to erratic rains,” Dr. Obudho reiterated.
The global economy remained resilient in 2024 despite the ongoing challenges such as high food prices, high energy costs and tighter monetary policies. The economy maintained a stable growth mainly supported by strong domestic demand and investment.
Additionally, a detailed data analysis of the Key Performance Indicators which include; the Manufacturing sector, Construction Sector, Affordable Housing, Food and Nutrition Security, Health and Vital Statistics and Information and Communication Technology was done.
The Economic Planning Principal Secretary, Dr Bonface Makokha emphasized that statistical data is key for monitoring growth rate geared towards the achievement of the Bottom-up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA) which focuses on improving the people’s welfare and achieving the Country’s development agenda.

Amanja, Konza Technopolis CEO, Mr John Paul Okwiri, Ag. Economic Planning Secretary, Timothy Gakuu among others.
