Africa Union Domestic Resource Mobilization Strategy (DRM) 2025–2033 Validation Workshop
Economic Planning Principal Secretary, Dr. Bonface Makokha,attended the Official Opening of the Africa Union Domestic Resource Mobilization Strategy (DRM) 2025–2033 Validation Workshop today the 23rd June 2025.
In his remarks,he highlighted the alignment of Kenya’s Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA) with Africa’s Agenda 2063, noting key achievements in agriculture, housing, MSME support and healthcare.
Kenya’s ongoing integration of continental priorities into national planning was also underscored, including her leadership in voluntary reviews and submission of Agenda 2063 progress reports, with performance improving from 51% in 2021 to 61% in 2023.
Additionally, the PS emphasized the urgent need for Africa to move beyond aid dependency by adopting bold, data-driven domestic resource mobilization strategies, anchored in tax reform, public finance efficiency, private sector collaboration and subnational revenue mobilization.
