The Economic Planning Principal Secretary Meeting With KNBS And KIPPRA
The State Department for Economic Planning Principal Secretary, Dr. Bonface Makokha earlier today on eighth July 2025 held a consultative meeting with representatives from the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS) and the Kenya Institute for Public Policy Research and Analysis (KIPPRA) at The Treasury Building.
The KNBS and the KIPPRA collaborate on several domains primarily through joint research projects, data sharing and capacity building initiatives. They also work together in order to enhance evidence-based policymaking, particularly in areas such as food security, nutrition and economic development.
The purpose of the meeting was to brief the PS on the KNBS Second Kenya Strategy for Development of Statistics (KSDS II). The report aims to provide a robust, comprehensive and cohesive approach which will enhance data and statistical capacity in the Country.
During the meeting, the KNBS Director General, Dr. McDonald Obudho did a comprehensive presentation on the
(KSDS II) for the period 2023/24 to 2027/28.
Additionally, Dr. Obudho gave a brief outline of the National plan for the advancement of Environmental-Economic Accounting
(NP – AEEA) – Kenya, 2025 – 2028 report.
Simultaneously, KIPPRA’s Ag. Executive Director, Dr. Eldah Onsomu gave a brief overview of the Kenya Country Economic Transformation Outlook (CETO) 2025 ahead of its launch.
CETO aims to provide a thorough assessment of the economic transformation while offering policy advice to both public and private sectors in the Country.
PS Makokha lauded both teams for their collaborative effort in coming up with the reports geared towards promoting economic advancement.
In attendance during the meeting was the Secretary Administration, Dr. Haron Komen, the Ag. Economic Planning Secretaries, Leah Chirchir, James Maina, KNBS and KIPPRA senior officials among others
