Meeting Between The Economic Planning Principal Secretary And The United Nations Team
This afternoon, Economic Planning Principal Secretary, Dr. Bonface Makokha, met with the representatives from the United Nations (UN) led by the UN Resident Coordinator to Kenya (RC), Dr. Stephen Jackson at the Treasury Building.
The aim of the meeting was to formally invite PS Makokha to serve as a member of the evaluation committee and to co-chair alongside the UN Resident Coordinator on the forthcoming evaluation of Kenya’s United Nations Sustainable Development Corporation Framework (Kenya UNSDCF 2022-2027).
The Kenya’s UNSDCF 2022-2027 serves as a comprehensive framework guiding the UN’s development initiatives in the country. These programs are developed, implemented and evaluated in close partnership with the Government of Kenya.
In addition, the Kenya UNSDCF 2022-2027 framework is closely aligned with Kenya’s national priorities, contributing to their achievement and supporting the country’s progress towards the Global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
During the meeting, the PS was also informed on the evaluation of the ongoing
Kenya UNSDCF 2022-2027 which began on the 1st of July 2025, and is expected to end on April 2026. This evaluation is to inform the next framework which is expected to begin around the year 2027/2028.
The Kenya’s Fourth Medium Term Plan (MTP IV) aligns well with the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework
(Kenya UNSDCF 2022-2027). The two development plans share objectives on sustainable development, economic transformation and inclusive growth.
Both models target key sectors like agriculture, universal health care, Digital superhighway, and infrastructure development while supporting national priorities and collective efforts to achieve the Kenya Vision 2030 Economic Blueprint.
On closing, PS Makokha, affirmed his committment to co-chair UNSDCF 2022-2027 Steering Committee that will provide strategic oversight on Methodology, Research and ownership among others.
Also present during the meeting was the Economic Planning Secretaries, James Maina, Festus Wangwe and Leah Chirchir, the United Nations Economist, Julius Chokerah, the United Nations Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist, Jane Njoroge among others.
