The New School Block Commissioning And Tree Planting Exercise In Funyula Constituency

 

The Economic Planning Principal Secretary, Dr. Bonface Makokha on Friday, 10th October, 2025 joined the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) Principal Secretary, Hon. Susan Mang’eni,  Funyula Constituency Member of Parliament Hon. Dr. Oundo Mudenyo  in commissioning and launching a newly constructed two-storey Junior Secondary block at Bujwang’a Secondary School, Busia County.

 

The project funded by the Funyula National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF) comprises of eight classrooms designed to accommodate learners in Grades 10, 11, and 12.

 

Moreover, the new facility will help decongest existing classrooms and provide a conducive learning environment for the growing junior secondary students population.

 

While officially Inaugurating, the State Department for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) Principal Secretary Hon. Susan Mang’eni, lauded the initiative emphasizing  that environmental sustainability and education development are complementary pillars in building resilient communities.

 

In his remarks, PS Makokha also commended the collaborative efforts between the national government and constituency initiatives in enhancing education infrastructure reiterating that education remains key for national development.

 

On his part,  MP Mudenyo emphasized on the government’s commitment to improving education infrastructure as a cornerstone for human capital development and economic transformation.

 

Following the commissioning, PS Makokha  proceeded for a Tree Planting Exercise at both Bujwang’a Secondary School and Bunandi Primary School together with other leaders in celebration of Mazingira Day underscoring the government’s drive towards environmental conservation.

 

A total of 2,400 tree seedlings comprising of indigenous and fruit tree species were planted with the aim of promoting sustainable environmental practices and enhancing school greening efforts.

 

The activity marked a significant step in enhancining climate action sustainability and creating awareness on the importance of tree planting among learners.
