Official Launch Of The 2025/2026 Kenya Mini Demographic And Health Survey Fieldwork

Today, the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS) in collaboration with the Ministry of Health (MOH), Development Partners and other stakeholders, launched the Kenya Mini Demographic and Health Survey Fieldwork (KMDHS) in a Nakuru Hotel.

This marks a significant milestone in the Country’s data collection efforts aimed at improving the health and well-being of Kenyans, with the 2022 Kenya Demographic Medical and Health Survey serving as a reference point.

Representing the Economic Planning, Principal Secretary Dr.Bonface Makokha, the Director General Dr. Masini Ichwara addressed the high level Workshop, which brought together Senior Government officials, Development Partners and selected Government Institutions to share perspective on data management and its pivotal role in health planning and development.

The aim of the 2025/2026 KMDHS Launch, is to provide valuable insights into trends and changes in the Country’s health data collection landscape.This survey will gather crucial information on the nation’s health and demographic trends, focusing on Fertility and Family Planning, Nutrition and Malnutrition, Maternal Health and Health financing.

During the session, success stories were highlighted on how credible data has enabled smooth health planning for development.

While addressing the participants, the DG reaffirmed Kenyan’s committment on the survey’s outcomes which will help track implementation and progress of the Bottom Up Economic Transformation Agenda(BETA).

The findings will inform policy decisions and interventions aimed at improving the health and wellbeing of Kenyans. It will also bridge data gaps between national accurate data and actionable data.

In attendance were, Director General for Kenya National Bureau for Statistics Dr.Macdonald Obudho,Director General for; National Council for Population and Development Dr. Mohammed Sheikh,Chief Executive Officer; National Gender Equality Commission Dr. Purity Ngina among others.
