Intergrating Citizen Voices Into Governance And Development

The Principal Secretary for Economic Planning Dr. Bonface Makokha today Monday 15th,December 2025,held a meeting with officers from Africa’s Voices who paid him a courtesy call, in his office at the National Treasury Building Nairobi.The team was led by their Executive Director Mr. Samuel Kimeu.

The aim of the meeting was to share on what they do as a charity organisation in the field of Media,Citizen Engagement, and Governance for Development.They sort to collaborate with the State Department for Economic Planning for citizen engagement service delivery.

While welcoming the team, the PS reiterated the need for collaboration and partnership,which will create a synergetic growth,sharing resources, knowledge and invent on new ways of doing business and also increase efficiency.

During their presentation,Africa’s Voices highlighted a raft of activities that they do to help citizen engage policy makers from a point of being informed and by providing them with an opportunity to respond through bulk SMS’s and various social media Platforms.These included Engagement with Media for in-depth discussions,Research and Design Analysis, Data Technologies among others.

It was then agreed that a team from Africa’s Voices,to schedule another meeting to hear from each director to get to know what they do based on the mandate of the State Department for better understanding and knowledge sharing for future collaboration and partnership.

Present during the meeting were Economic Planning Director General Dr. Masini Ichwara,Acting EPS for Development Planning and Policy Madam Evelyn Anupi, Acting EPS for Monitoring, Evaluation and PIM Mr. James Maina, Acting EPS for International Economic Partnerships and Frameworks Mr. Festus Wangwe among others.
