Launch of the Kenya Economic Report 2025 and the Kenya Fiscal Incidence Analysis Report
The Kenya Institute for Public Policy Research and Analysis (KIPPRA) today Tuesday, 16th December 2025 hosted a landmark policy event in partnership with the World Bank Kenya and United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) among other Key Development Partners at a Nairobi Hotel.
During the event, The National Treasury Cabinet Secretary Hon. FCPA John Mbadi officially launched the Kenya Economic Report (KER) 2025 and the Kenya Fiscal Incidence Analysis (KFIA) Report, respectively.
CS Mbadi highlighted that this year’s Kenya Economic Report is quite timely and aligns well with the government priorities including the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA) and Fourth Medium-Term Plan (MTP-IV).
Additionally, CS Mbadi reiterated that the two policy reports aim at strengthening evidence-based policymaking and promoting inclusive economic development.
In his address, CS Mbadi emphasized on the significance of capacity building especially through the Young Professionals Programme. He added that the programme showcases KIPPRA’s role in strengthening policy research and nurturing Kenya’s future leaders.
Consecutively, the CS also presided over the Award Ceremony of the 2024/2025 cohort of twenty nine (29) professionals from the KIPPRA Young Professionals Programme.
The Kenya Economic Report 2025 themed; “Creating Decent Jobs for Prosperity,” presents evidence-based analysis and policy recommendations to support job creation, inclusion and economic transformation in the Country.
On his part, the Economic Planning Principal Secretary Dr. Bonface Makokha underscored that the two reports are not only academic publications but also policy instruments and generally a call to action.
“As the State Department for Economic Planning, we remain fully committed to evidence-based planning and policymaking through partnerships with institutions like Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS) and KIPPRA,” PS Makokha stated.
PS Makokha further congratulated the graduands and reaffirmed that the Government is committed to empowering young people as well as engaging them in strategic sectors of the economy.
The KFIA Report is a publication on the Poverty and Distributional Impacts of Fiscal Policy in Kenya which has been prepared by KIPPRA in collaboration with KNBS.The report highlights the effective role of fiscal policy particularly in education, health and social protection. It also identifies opportunities that enhance equity with special focus on women and children.
The launched reports provide complementary insights on how fiscal policy and economic growth can work together to reduce inequality, create decent jobs and advance shared prosperity in Kenya.

Economic Planning Secretary Timothy Gakuu, UNICEF Deputy Country Representative Operations Benjamin Meyer, World Bank Kenya Division Director Qimiao Fan and KIPPRA Board Members among other Senior Officials.
