The Nyota Business Start -Up Capital Disbursement Programme
The National Youth Opportunities Towards Advancement (NYOTA) disbursement programme has today Monday, 19th January officially disbursed 258,425,000 Million Kenya Shillings to 10,337 beneficiaries each receiving Ksh. 25,000 while Ksh. 3,000 will be deposited into Haba na Haba Savings Account to be managed by National Social Security Fund (NSSF).
Today’s exercise brought together young people from Nairobi, Kiambu and Kajiado Counties.
Presiding over the event, H.E President William Ruto underscored the government’s commitment to investing in youth-led enterprises and job creation initiatives such as affordable housing and ICT hubs that foster technology development, entrepreneurship and collaboration across the Country.
Speaking at Kasarani Stadium, the President reaffirmed his administration’s focus on empowering young people economically.
He noted that NYOTA programme is well designed to unlock opportunities, support entrepreneurship and enable youths to become self-reliant and job creators.
The government also supports the youth through global initiatives by implementing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) framework, focusing on Quality Education, Gender Equality, Decent Work, Social Inclusion, Good Health and Well-being among others.
Moreover, the NYOTA disbursement programme targets youths drawn from diverse backgrounds including small-scale traders, start-ups, creatives and innovators with a focus on boosting grassroots economic activity.
The State Department for Economic Planning through the KIPPRA Youth Mentorship Programme on Policy formulation aligns well with the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA) by providing youth empowerment.
The event marked not only the release of funds but also renewed pledge to place youth at the center of economic transformation hence contributing to shared prosperity.
