CAS tours venues where National Government technical teams are working on sectoral plans and associated budgets

The Chief Administrative Secretary, the National Treasury and Planning, Hon Eric Simiyu Wafukho attended a series of meetings in Mombasa on behalf of the National Treasury and Planning Cabinet Secretary Amb. Ukur Yatani where the National Government sectoral budgeting process for the FY 2022/2023 is on-going.

He was accompanied by the Director General of NEPAD Amb.Samori Okwiya and Mr Kimemia as he paid a courtesy call to Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) MD , Amb.John Mwangime at his office in Mombasa. The leaders discussed the strategic role of KPA within the country’s development blueprint , Vision 2030 reviewed progress made in the development of Mombasa and Lamu Ports.

From the meeting with the KPA MD, Wafukho’s entourage toured the various hotel venues where National Governmnet technical teams were holed up as they worked on sectoral plans and associated budgets. He conveyed the Cabinet Secretary Amb. Ukur Yatani’s message that challenged teams to put Kenya first and to allocate resources across Ministries, State Departments and State Agencies in a manner that is aligned to development priorities and offers highest value position.

After the teams are done with the technical processes there shall follow public presentations and feedback. The public will be taken through what was planned in the previous year, what was achieved, challenges encountered, lessons learnt and what has been proposed for the FY2022/2023 period.The feedback obtained during these public hearings will be used to refine the plans and the development of Budget Outlook Statement.
