Economic Planning PS James Muhati familiarization tour at the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS) offices

This afternoon the Economic Planning Principal Secretary James Muhati is on a familiarisation tour of the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS).

On arrival the PS was met by KNBS staff led by the Director General Mcdonald Obudho.

Accompanied by the Economic Planning Secretary Madam Katherine Muoki and Director Administration Joel Makori, the PS was taken on a tour of KNBS library and Data centre.

PS Muhati was also taken through the key ongoing statistical activities such as Statistical Business Register, Kenya Household Master Sample Frame and Development of quality criteria for citizen generated data among others.

KNBS is established by the Statistics Act No. 4 2006 as the principal agency of government for collecting, analysing and disseminating statistical information.

The management of the Bureau vests in the Board of Directors with Director General in charge of the day-to-day running of the organisation.

The Bureau produces regular statistical products that are disseminated annually, quarterly or monthly depending on availability of data required for their preparation.
