Commissioning Of One Storey Tuition And Administration Block At Sierra Girls Senior School

This afternoon, Saturday, 24th January, 2026 the State Department for Economic Planning (SDEP) Principal Secretary, Dr. Bonface Makokha took part in the commissioning of one storey tuition and administration block at the Siera Girls Senior School in Nambale Constituency, Busia County.
The one storey building which hosts four classrooms, a Science laboratory and an administration block aims to enhance a conducive learning environment by supporting effective teaching and educational activities.
In addition, the tuition and administration block was funded by the National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF) for the 2023/24 and the 2024/25 Financial Years. The NG-CDF is a key government agency under SDEP.
Moreover, the project aligns well with the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA) which focuses on enhancing education infrastructure to boost learning outcomes. By supporting such projects, the SDEP plays a crucial role in driving BETA’s goals of uplifting lives through improved facilities and services.
Speaking during the ceremony, PS Makokha underscored the critical role of educational infrastructure in driving Kenya’s development, emphasizing that quality facilities boost learning outcomes and equip students with skills for the future.
PS Makokha also highlighted President William Ruto’s call to action on parents enrolling their children in school. This presidential directive is meant to ensure that every child gets education in Kenya.
During the function, commemorative tree seedlings were planted to symbolise the community’s commitment to environmental conservation and sustainability.
In attendance during the event were; the area Member of Parliament (MP), Hon. Geoffrey Mulanya, the former area MP, Hon. John Bunyasi, the NG-CDF CEO, Yusuf Mbuno, the Director NG-CDF Board Member, Hon. Masista Shiyonga, the Nambale Sub-County Deputy County Commissioner, Caroline Onchoka and senior government officials among others.
