Consultative Meeting Between the Chief of Staff and Head of the public Service With the Leadership of All Relevant Research Institutions

Today 3rd March, 2026,the Principal Secretary for Economic Planning Dr.Bonface Makokha was among Principal Secretaries and other leadership of the Relevant Research Institutions,who met the Chief of Staff and the Head of Public Service Mr. Felix Koskei at Kenyatta International Convention Center.

The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the role of research and public policy in the public sector and how it can impact,revitalise and re-energise evidence based policy and service delivery outcomes.

Key discussions were based on how to enhance resource mobilization in the research institutions,strengthening governance,knowledge management,capacity building, achieving zero audit,legal compliance, and zero tolerance on corruption.That will go along way to help achieve projects and programmes that are set by research institutions and their findings should benefit Kenyans by trickling into the economy.

In his key note address the Chief of Staff and the Head of Public Service Mr Koskei told the Principal Secretaries and Chief Executive Officers of State Corporations , and regulatory heads” To enforce fiscal discipline,that target prudent use of resources, innovation and align their work with national priorities,Vision 2030, (MTP-1V) by putting performance and accountability at the centre of service delivery and align them to “Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda” (BETA). ”

He also urged them to “Shift from academic output to market-ready solutions and measurable impact,emphasizing on the need to move beyond publications to commercialization and integration of industry needs (e.g. in agriculture, health, and technology).
In attendance were;Principal Secretary for the State Department for Science,Research and Innovation Prof.Andulrazak Shaukat,CEO State Corporations Advisory Committee(SCAC) Mr.Simon Indimuli among other senior government officials.
