Courtesy Call By The Partnership In Statistics For Development In The 21st Century
The Partnership in Statistics for Development in the 21st Century (PARIS21) team on Thursday, 9th October, 2025 paid a courtesy call to the Economic Planning Principal Secretary, Dr. Bonface Makokha flanked by the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS) at the Treasury Building.
The PARIS21 is a global initiative that strengthens statistical systems which helps Countries achieve national and international development goals and track progress towards the World Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It is hosted by the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).
The objective of the visit was to strengthen collaboration between the KNBS and the PARIS21 in advancing statistical capacity, governance and innovation aligned with Kenya’s development priorities and global standards.
During the visit, the KNBS Director for Statistical Coordination and Methods, Benjamin Avusevwa, representing the Director General (DG) Dr. McDonald Obudho together with the PARIS21 Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dr. Johannes Jutting updated the PS on the partnership between the KNBS and the PARIS21.
Additionally, discussions explored collaboration areas with Kenya, including National Strategies for the Development of Statistics (NSDS), design and implementation of long-term statistical plans, foster alignment with SDGs and national development goals and Capacity Building.
Moreover, the global partner facilitates statistical capacity development and advocates for data-driven decision-making in development policy among others.
It was noted that the KNBS can benefit from visibility in global forums and access to technical partnerships and be positioned as a hub for the East African statistical innovation.
