Economic Planning Director General, Dr. Masini Ichwara held a briefing session on the development of the Economic Planning Policy and Bill on 10th September 2025 at the 10th floor Boardroom. The meeting was to brief him on the development progress of the Economic Planning Policy and Bill.

The Economic Planning Policy and Bill aim to standardize and harmonize economic functions at both levels of government (National and county). One of the major challenges the country has been experiencing is lack of an Economic Planning Framework for guiding economic development at both levels of government.

It also aims to have better integration of the county and national government in matters of policy, planning, and budgeting of programmes and projects to ensure efficiency in the utilization of resources. Further, it will strengthen the role of Monitoring and Evaluation, which are essential in achieving the targets set in the Development plans.

The meeting also highlighted the progress the State Department has made in developing the bill and policy, and provided a way forward for finalizing the same.

Present during the meeting were Leah ChirChir Head, Development Planning and Policy, Festus Wangwe, Head, International Economic Partnerships and Frameworks, James Maina, Head, Monitoring, Evaluation and Public Investment Management, Head of Divisions/Units, and the technical committee developing the policy and bill.
