Handover Ceremony
The National Treasury and Economic Planning Cabinet Secretary, Hon. FCPA John Mbadi has today presided over the handover ceremony of the incoming Principal Secretary for the State Department for Economic Planning, Dr. Bonface Makokha. The CS also welcomed the Principal Secretary for the newly formed State Department for Investments and Assets Management, Mr.Cyrell Wagunda Odede at the Treasury building.
The CS said that the State Department for Economic Planning has registered milestones among them the launch and the dissemination of the Fourth-Medium Term Plan (MTP-IV), National Indicator Handbook and Capacity Building geared towards economic turnaround and effective planning.
During the handover ceremony, the Economic Planning Principal Secretary, Dr. Bonface Makokha, acknowledged the outgoing Principal Secretary’s commendable job, noting that it sets a strong foundation for continued progress.
Dr. Makokha is an expert in Monitoring and Evaluation, Electoral Process, Capacity Building and Gender Issues. He worked as the Regional Monitoring and Evaluation specialist and focal point for Democratization processes and Rule of Law for International Conference on the Great Lakes Region from 2015-2020. He takes over from James Muhati who is proceeding to China as the Consul General in Guangzhou, People’s Republic of China.
In addition, the National Treasury Principal Secretary, Dr. Chris Kiptoo, extended his congratulations to both the incoming and outgoing Principal Secretaries. He applauded James Muhati on his new appointment as Consul General in Guangzhou and acknowledged his significant accomplishments while in office.
On his part, the outgoing PS James Muhati stated that the Path of transformation that has been started will bring the National Planning into context and it is important to have a Policy Framework that will enable the State Department to perform it’s National Planning function and Mandate.
Meanwhile, the Investments and Assets Management Principal Secretary, Mr. Cyrell Wagunda Odede reaffirmed his dedication to advancing the Department’s mission, particularly by leveraging Public Private Partnerships (PPPs).
In attendance during the handover was the National Treasury Principal Administrative Secretary, Samson Wangusi and Economic Planning Secretary Timothy Gakuu among other Senior Officials from the National Treasury and Economic Planning.
