Mission Courtesy Call By A Team From AFDB.
Today 2nd March, 2026, the Principal Secretary for Economic Planning Dr. Bonface Makokha hosted a team from Africa Development Bank (AFDB),which was led by their country’s Principal’s Governance Officer Ms. Angelique Umbyeyi.
The purpose of the meeting was to discuss in depth, the partnership which is anchored on the 2024-2028 Country Strategy Paper (CSP) on development.
This partnership has given forth to the project themed “Strengthening Integrated Economic Planning and Development Coordinated for Inclusive Growth in Kenya”. It will emphasize on enhancing policy , legal, and institutional frameworks to foster sustainable development.
The objectives of the project will include strengthening Technical leadership in Integrated Economic Planning and Forecasting, Evaluation and Intergovernmental Economic Cooperation and Inclusive Participatory Development Planning.
The project which is meant to last for 24 months with an interim budget of 540,000 USD.
8% of the budget, translating into 36000 USD for administrative logistics and services,training ,workshops and forums.51% equivalent of 230,000 USD and 41% an equivalent of 184000 USD will be used on consultants, experts, technical and project management Unit.
In his remarks Dr. Makokha said that, “The technical assistance was conceived as a targeted, catalytic intervention, responding to a clearly identified institutional gap in Kenya’s planning architecture”.Additionally, he said ” It is not a scale project, but a reform-enabling instrument designed to strengthen the coherence, credibility, and enforceability of economic planning within the public sector”.
The Bank will also provide, technical assistance for Public Financial Management (PFM), Public Debt Management, and Public Investment Management (PIM) to enhance efficiency, which are key components of the economic planning process,this will also include digital tools and equipment.
