Overview

The Development Planning & Policy Directorate is responsible for the overall coordination and management of the Development Planning and Policy function. The Functions of the Directorate entail

Key Functions

• Macroeconomic modelling and forecasting;
• Economic policy management;
• Policy guidance on national statistics management;
• Coordination of macroeconomic policy and research;
• Public Policy Research and Analysis;
• Coordination of Macro Working Group initiatives on economic planning;
• Formulation and review of the Macroeconomic framework for Kenya;
• Monitoring and evaluation of economic trends;
• Formulation and review of guidelines and standards for economic development plans (Long Term, Medium Term, Sector, Annual Development Plans, master plans, sessional papers, strategic plans, and sectoral plans);
• Coordination of the development and dissemination of Long-Term, Medium-Term Plans (MTPs), Sector Plans and National Annual Development Plans;
• Coordination of alignment of the Medium-Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) budget with the MTPs;
• Management of National Planning Offices at the Counties;
• Coordination of implementation of Intergovernmental Budget and Economic Council (IBEC) resolutions on the economic planning function;
• Policy guidance on the management of population and constituencies development;
• Coordination of intergovernmental economic planning function;
• Coordination of research on sectoral issues; and
• Coordination of donor-funded multisectoral programmes and projects.
