Consultative Meeting on Kenya’s Long-Term Development Vision

The Economic Planning Principal Secretary, Dr. Bonface Makokha, today, Friday, 7th August 2026, held a consultative meeting with top government officials at the Treasury Building to prepare for the official launch of the National Conversation on Kenya’s long-term development vision.

The purpose of the forum was to prepare a citizen-led dialogue aimed at updating the public on Vision 2030 and shape the roadmap for the country's next economic strategy.

Highlighting the strategic direction of the initiative, PS Makokha emphasized that the event will set the foundation for nationwide engagement adding that the upcoming forum is designed to build broad public awareness, align cross-sector priorities across both government and private entities, and secure firm institutional support needed to turn the vision into tangible outcomes.

PS Makokha was emphatic that the National conversation will be fully inclusive leaving no one behind. He further pointed out that he will ensure that every Kenyan citizen will have a voice in defining Kenya’s future priorities whether they reside in rural or urban centers.

During the discussions, the participants reviewed key sectors that have sustained growth across previous Medium-Term Phases of the Kenya Vision 2030, noting major structural achievements.

The officials also emphasized the urgency of creating a clear transition plan to avoid any gaps when the current programs come to an end. They also noted that if the new blueprint is well anchored in the constitutional frameworks, where citizens are allowed to influence the Kenya's future development pathways, there will be stability and prosperity.

The session ended with a unanimous commitment from all participants to jointly drive the initiative forward and to commence immediate ground preparations for the launch.
