Grassroots Data Management Phase II Training Continues in Kilifi County

The Grassroots Data Management for Evidence-Based Planning Phase II Training continued today, Wednesday, 16th September, 2026 in Kilifi County as the capacity-building programme marked its second day.

The ongoing training has brought together National Government Administration Officers (NGAO) to build their expertise in grassroots data collection, management and utilisation for effective long-term planning.

During the sessions, the Kilifi Law Courts Principal Magistrate, Hon. Ivy Wasike, called on participants to adhere to the applicable legal and regulatory frameworks while ensuring truthful reporting of Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) alongside Child protection cases.

Hon. Masike further reiterated that accurate information is critical to strengthening accountability and supporting effective data management for strategic policy formulation.

Additionally, today’s sessions led by the Kenya Lidatech Company Limited Data Trainer, Collins Goro, touched on data quality assurance, transition to structured and digital data systems as well as practical exercises on digital data collection, validation and reporting simulations.

Besides practical sessions and simulations, the training seeks to ensure that the needs, priorities and perspectives of Communities are effectively captured and reflected in development planning.

Fundamentally, the program is part of the State Department for Economic Planning efforts to reinforce grassroots data systems and enhance the use of quality data in informed decision-making and responsive development interventions.

In attendance were: The Kilifi North Sub-County Deputy County Commissioner, Samuel Mutisya; Economic Planning Director for Public Investment Management (PIM) Directorate, Elijah Kinaro and Kilifi County NGAO Officers among others.
