Official closing ceremony for the Capacity Building Training for Technical and Support Staff

The Economic Planning, Economic Planning Secretary EPS Timothy Gakuu represented the Principal Secretary PS James Muhati during the official closing ceremony of the Master Class Capacity Building Training for the Support Staff in Naivasha in the morning on Friday 16th February 2024.
The training which was conducted by the World Governance Centre was meant to equip this cadre of staff with the latest skills in Communication, Technology, Public Relations and Customer Care among others to enhance their performance due to the dynamic change in office and business world.
Later in the afternoon, the EPS officially closed a 28 day training for Technical Officers of all cadres at a different venue in Naivasha. The training that was also conducted by the experts from the World Governance Centre aimed at enhancing officers’ skills for improved service delivery and performance in the execution of the Economic Planning function.The areas of focus were mainly on: Effective Communication and Report Writing; Public Policy Formulation, Design and Analysis; and, Public Private Partnership on Project Development, Screening and Appraisal.
In his closing remarks, EPS Gakuu emphasized the importance of the skills training to improve on professionalism and discipline while maintaining ethical standards for positive behavior at work places. He encouraged each participant to take advantage of such learning opportunities when they occur.
The EPS also delivered the Economic Planning Principal Secretary, Mr. James Muhati’s speech. In the speech, the PS acknowledged the importance of the training in terms of building the capacity of the officers, knowledge and skills that will impact service delivery.
He further noted that, effective communication skills for the officers is paramount for clarity in discharging clear and easy to understand policies and reports to the public. He also encouraged officers to embrace the art of information sharing and work in collaboration amongst themselves for better knowledge management and learning purposes.
The Economic Planning Secretary was accompanied to this function by Economic Planning Directors and Training Experts from the World Governance Centre.
