Principal Secretary James Muhati meets with the Departmental Committee on Finance and National Planning

Economic Planning Principal Secretary James Muhati on 20th February 2025 met with the Departmental Committee on Finance and National Planning at Bunge towers.

The purpose of the meeting was to deliberate on matters of Policies, Programmes and Expenditure ceiling of the State Department as contained in the 2025 Budget Policy Statement.

One of the key commitments highlighted in the expenditure ceiling is the Fourth Medium-Term Plan and Sector Plans. These plans play a critical role in the preparation of the Status of Kenya’s Economy Reports, the development of long-term strategies beyond Vision 2030, and the drafting of annual progress reports on program and project implementation.

PS Muhati highlighted the importance of these considerations in ensuring that the State Department receives the necessary support to fulfill its budgetary needs. This support is essential for implementing its core responsibilities and achieving key priorities.

The PS was accompanied by among others the Economic Planning Secretary, Timothy Gakuu, Senior Chief Finance Officer, Julia Ng’ang’a, Director of Planning, James Maina, KNBS Director General Dr. MacDonald Obudho and Vision 2030 Secretariat Director General Kenneth Mwige.

The Member of Parliament for Baringo North, Hon. Kipkoros Joseph Makilap chaired the meeting on behalf of Molo Member of Parliament, Hon. Kimani Kuria who is the chair of the Departmental Committee on Finance and National Planning.
