The 2nd National Summit of the County Peer Review Mechanism.

The New Partnership for Africa’s Development and Africa Peer Review Mechanism (NEPAD/APRM) Kenya Secretariat in partnership with the Council of

Governors(CoG), today, Wednesday, 30th July, 2025 held the 2nd National County Peer Review Mechanism Summit (CPRM) at the KICC.

The forum serves as a platform for stakeholders from the 47 Counties of Kenya to share on key issues, exchange best practices and promote collaborative efforts to advance County Peer Review Mechanism (CPRM) initiatives.

Kenya received a special mention and commendation at the APRM Summit of Heads of State and Governments, in February this year in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia for being the first country to facilitate the Sub-National Peer reviews.

Addressing the delegates during the official opening of the Summit, the Economic Planning Principal Secretary, Dr. Bonface Makokha, highlighted the government’s committment to the process adding that this will be supported in the CPRM initiatives for the remaining counties.

Additionally, PS Makokha also urged the youths to comprehensively participate in the discussions on the issues affecting them during the APRM Summit noting that the government may consider allocating additional funds to the best performing counties in future.

The PS acknowledged the well thought objectives of the CPRM which among others include; providing a tool for tracking the implementation of the Global Goals (SDGs), the Kenya Vision 2030, the African Union Agenda 2063 and the CIDPs at the county level,- and promoting county governments’ compliance with legal provisions on public finance management and governance in general.

In attendance were; Governors from various counties, the NEPAD/APRM Chairperson, H.E Sospeter Ojaamong, the Chairperson, CPRM Panel of Eminent Persons, Rtd. Archbishop Dr. Eliud Wabukala, IPOA Chairman Ahmed Issack Hassan, delegates from Zimbambwe, officials from Economic Planning among other stakeholders.
