The Africa Public Service Day 2025 (APSD)
The Africa Public Service Day 2025 (APSD) themed: Enhancing the Agility and Resilience of Public Institutions to Achieve Equitable Governance and Rapidly Address Historical Service Delivery Gaps kicked off today, Tuesday,10th June at the Kenya International Conference Conference (KICC).
The three-day event aims to highlight the contributions of public service in the development process as well as motivate, encourage and acknowledge the dedication of those who serve the public.
Moreover, the APSD which is commemorated annually across Africa, recognizes the value and virtue of service delivery to the community. This is through contributing to the well-being of its citizens and the Country’s growth.
While officiating the event, the Ministry of Public Service, Human Capital Development and Special Programmes, Cabinet Secretary, Hon. Geoffrey Kiringa Ruku commended the Kenya Public Service for its continued contribution to the Social Economic growth of the Country through the Bottom-Up Transformation Agenda(BETA).
CS Kiringa urged on the importance of public servants adhering to the principles of public service which include; responsiveness, effectiveness, time management and efficiency. He further emphasized on a citizen-centric delivery at all times in accordance with the Kenyan Constitution.
The first-day discussions centered on the importance of strengthening public Institutions in order to leverage on historical inequalities issue and promote inclusivity to marginalized ethnic communities, women, youth and people living with disabilities.
Speaking during the event, the State department for Public Service and Human Capital Development, Principal Secretary Dr. Jane Kere Imbunya reiterated that Public Service is vital in a functioning society. “Public Service is about complete dedication to the people, the nation and it demands us to be agile, resilient and above all extremely innovative.” She added.
The Africa Public Service Day is to build strong, competent, Innovative, professional and merit based public institutions that not only serve but also deliver.The event also focuses on showcasing innovations and celebrating the achievements of public service.
Also in attendance were; the State Department for Public Service and Human Capital Development, Principal Secretary, Dr.Jane Kere Imbunya, Muhoroni Member of Parliament Hon. Oyoo James Onyango among other senior officials.
