The objective of the five-day event was to: Validate the AU DRM Strategy 2025–2033 with technical inputs from key stakeholders, ensure alignment of the Strategy with national, regional and continental priorities and to discuss practical modalities for implementation, coordination and monitoring.
In a speech read on his behalf by Ag. Economic Planning Secretary (EPS), Festus Wangwe, the Economic Planning Principal Secretary, Dr. Bonface Makokha affirmed that this validated strategy, spanning the year 2025 to 2033 is not merely a fiscal roadmap but a bold political statement of our collective aspirations.
During the deliberations, it was agreed that Africa shall finance her own transformation and it is only African’s themselves who will handle their economic aspects better.
In a workshop attended by 55 African countries, PS Makokha reiterated that the realization of Africa Agenda 2063, reaffirms that financial sovereignty is not a theoretical ideal but a practical necessity.
” These five days of intense engagement will therefore go down in history as the turning point for Africa’s self-reliance in driving her own development agenda.” PS. Makokha added.
As Africa strives to achieve her development goals, the African Union Domestic Resource Mobilization Strategy is key and plays a critical role in changing the continent’s accelerated economic growth.
Despite development financing gaps experienced across the African countries, institutional framework, governance systems and economic strategies are being harmonized to ensure that the fiscal deficit is ultimately addressed.
Despite all this challenges, Kenya has made significant strides in areas such as Universal Healthcare Coverage, ICT, education and rural electrification connectivity, among others. These achievements demonstrate the commitment to improving the lives of its citizens and driving socio-economic development, positioning the Country for continued growth and prosperity.
