The Joint National-Un Cooperation Framework Committee Evaluation Report Meeting
The Economic Planning Principal Secretary, Dr. Bonface Makokha, today Tuesday, 31st March, 2026 held the inaugural joint meeting between the Government of Kenya and the United Nations agencies operating in the Country in his office at the Treasury building.
The purpose of the meeting was to present the Evaluation Report and the Steering Committee members under the current framework, the rights bearers and duty holders.
The Evaluation Report shall provide strategic oversight and direction to the Cooperation Framework process and ensure its adjustment to the evolving County and Country development processes, mechanism goals and links with other processes such as the national voluntary review.
The PS commended the team for the work well done in coming up with the evaluation of the Kenya United Nations sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF) 2022-2027.
The UNSDCF purposes among others to promote learning, coordination, programming and accountability to stakeholders and accessing the performance against its commitments.
“The Cooperation framework shall support resource mobilization, financial opportunities, system strengthening sustainability under the current Cooperation Framework and also provide collective ownership, challenges and lessons learnt.” PS Makokha said.
He added that by aligning Kenya’s development agenda with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) goal no. 5 where gender equality is taken into account, shall give priorities to women, girls, youth and children.
The Steering Committee, highlighted collaboration with government agencies, civil society and development partners on key priorities areas outlining Kenya’s strategic development goals, which includes the Bottom_Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA) and how the UN seeks to support these efforts.
The Committee also provided opportunities for cooperation including cover mechanisms for accountability and identifying financial opportunities, aligning Kenya’s development agenda, Strengthening collaborations for resource mobilization and expertise sharing.
Present during the meeting were the UNICEF Country Representative, Dr. Shaheen Nilofer, the KNBS DG, Dr. McDonald Obudho and Ag. Economic Planning Secretaries, James Maina, Timothy Gakuu and Evelyn Anupi among others.
