The Economic Planning Principal Secretary Dr. Bonface Makokha today Thursday, 18th September, 2025 joined other Principal Secretaries from various government State Departments  in a high-level Luncheon Engagement meeting convened by the Commission on Administrative Justice (Office of the Ombudsman) at a Nairobi Hotel.

‎The office of Ombudsman is responsible for addressing cases of maladministration within the public sector. It has the authority to investigate complaints involving delays, misuse of power, unjust treatment and clear instances of injustice. Additionally, it monitors the enforcement of the Access to Information Act, 2016.

‎The meeting focused on the theme: “Promoting Efficient Public Service Delivery through Effective Complaints Resolution and Enhanced Access to Information”,  demonstrating a strong commitment to enhancing accountability and improving public service delivery and trust.

‎The Chief of Staff and Head of  Public Service Mr. Felix K. Koskei, who was the Chief Guest during the meeting, highlighted the need for Ministries, Departments and Agencies to  work in  collaboration  and partnership with Ombudsman in a whole  government approach.

‎In a speech read on his behalf by the Deputy Chief of  Staff Mr Amos Gathecha, Mr.Koskei,  reiterated that, the  commission is a constitutional safeguard in service delivery that helps  in disputes  resolution in a  non confrontational manner while urging Ministries, Departments and Agencies to  provide unconditional access to information for all who may be in need of it.

‎The Commission on  Administrative Justice Chairperson, Mr.Charles Dulo reaffirmed its commitment to championing the rights of citizens particularly the most vulnerable by ensuring that they receive fair, efficient, responsive public services and access to information.

‎As the nation advances towards a more accountable and citizen-centred system of governance, such a platform will help serve as a vital mechanism for narrowing the gap between policy formulation and public needs.
