THE SDGs ANNUAL AWARDS CEREMONY 2025
The 2025 SDGs Annual Awards took place on Friday, 28th November to honour outstanding leadership and notable progress in advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The awards ceremony which took place in Mombasa County, successfully honoured individuals and institutions whose work has significantly enhanced the implementation of the Country’s SDGs. These efforts reaffirms Kenya’s commitment to inclusive and transformative growth.
The ceremony featured an extensive range of award categories, reflecting the diverse stakeholders driving the SDGs across the Nation. The winners were recognized in the areas of Creativity, Impact and Changemaker.
During the event, the Principal Secretaries from the State Departments for: Public Health and Professional Standards; Devolution; Blue Economy and Fisheries were distinguished for their exemplary contributions towards advancing the SDGs initiatives. PS Mary Muthoni whose State Department emerged the winner attended the event.
In the Parliamentary Category, several Members of Parliament were also awarded including; Bondo MP Dr. Gideon Ochanda, Suna West MP Hon. Peter Masara, Manyatta MP Hon. John Gitonga, Kaiti MP Hon. Joshua Kimilu and the Nominated MP Hon. Mayaka Irene.
They were commended for their exemplary contributions and commitment towards advancing the sustainable development initiatives.
On top of that, the awards were also presented to distinguished actors from the County Governments, Media, Private Sector, Youth groups and Civil Society.This broad representation ensured that the exemplary contributions from every sector of the society were acknowledged and celebrated.
The 2025 SDGs Annual Awards renewed a collective drive and upheld Kenya’s determination to building a more resilient, equitable and sustainable future.
Also in attendance during the Annual Awards event was the International Economic Partnership and Frameworks Directorate, Director Festus Wangwe, SDGs Kenya Forum Executive Director, Ms. Florence Syevuo, Julius Chokerah of UN Resident Coordinator’s office representative and Directors of Planning among others.
